If the unit in your home is too big it will only run for short Cycles on the hottest days (93º+)
That’s Bad… If it’s sized correctly it will run a lot on the hottest days, this in turn, will help with Humidity levels in the home. Short A/C Cycles = High Humidity. Always remember BIGGER IS NOT BETTER when you’re talking about Air Conditioners . During our long hot summer season, the longer the run cycle the better humidity control you get from the unit. There are a couple scenarios to consider.
1) Are there DUCT LEAKS? If your system has leaks in the duct work… 2 things are happening; you are losing conditioned air to the attic or crawl space and you have bad, dirty, unwanted air as a result to the leak. Not to mention the Energy loss that is costing you $ every minute that the system runs ~ Cooling or Heating!! The best way to figure this one out is a duct leak test; we’ll tell you where the leak is located and how much it’s costing you on your monthly power bill. You would be amazed at how poorly some systems are installed, 
2) Is your system sized correctly for the home? This includes the equipment AND the duct… I see way too many systems that were upsized because they didn’t cool very well. Unfortunately, it’s common for a customer to complain of uncomfortable conditions after an A/C change-out. Often, the HVAC contractor will upsize a unit without consideration to the duct size or the ‘return air’ size (where the filter is). We see houses that start with 2.5 or 3 ton systems & end up with 4 and 5 ton systems but nobody ever looks at the duct or the return or the building envelope leakage. (I.E. Gaps Cracks & Holes) 
3) A myth: You can kill microbials’ & Bacteria effectively “on the fly by”… in other words, if somebody tells you it’ll work to clean the air stream, that a load of BS… it needs to be installed on the coil over the surface that is ripe for microbial growth to start growing

Wow. A “heat dome”, that doesn’t sound too good but we expect hot weather here on the Gulf Coast, it makes for those days we appreciate the beach and the Gulf water temp but the Blue Angels Air Show at the beach can be dangerous without some solid preparation and a little digression on the “partying while out there all day in the heat, But what a great Event!!
