Every year I look at January as the fastest month of the year, we realize that the holidays are over, then all of a sudden there is this huge focus on a New Year, a clean slate and what we will do with this new start, then Poof, it’s gone, its over; we get launched into Feb and the race to Summer is on. So the ‘stop & smell the Roses’ theory is great but not usually attainable , at least for January, without some serious focus, which is what you need, along with serious determination to get your year off to a good start with the chance to accomplish what you set forth for the year. Enough of this rambling; so, I always read featured columns in several magazines to see

what is done to hold a reader’s attention. My favorite guy just wrote about “stopping” his column in Garden N Gun b/c he’s tired; it seems to me he took a ‘simple musing’* along with some sort of Southern Current Event (*that seems like a “current event” in & of itself…’a musing’, especially a Southern one) & made it into an enjoyable piece; although I never wrote to him, asking advise or requesting a future subject, maybe I’m tired too? HEH, anyway, I’m plodding along writing, to avoid taking down Holliday decorations in the cold and I was thinking about who might read this or if I can hold anyone’s attention for 300+ words or does this column even matter?
