Here’s the secret… Get a UV-C Light installed in your A/C system!  And…YES, an ounce of prevention is like a pound of cure

Let’s start with this idea: that the solution comes from  the Sun; in other words, the Sun can solve this mold problem for us. The Sun’s Ultra Violet light can kill mold & mildew & lessen microbial growth… Only 1 problem, how do we get the sun to shine on the A/C Coil in our furnace?  We harness the power of the sun simulate the Sun & its solar radiation with a UV-C Emitter!  Why are we talking all this science about UV-C? Well here’s the story, “A” & “B” UV radiation is what gives you a sunburn at the beach, but the “C”  band of Ultraviolet light can kill on a cellular level, kills & sterilizes’… This is a term not taken lightly in the Indoor Qir Quality business, there are very few instances where you can say that a product or process in the HVAC area can “Sterilize”  anything, but with the right application & the correct source of UVC, & I mean “pure UV-C” (no Ozone) and you can really

make a difference & protect an HVAC system;

The blue light bathes the coil & kills the growth on the coil by irradiating it & then it washes off the build-up with the moisture created by running the Air Conditioning; This is why it’s important to check your drainline & keep it clean if you have a UV  fixture on you’re A/C system.

1) The UV-C emitter (like the “Steril-Aire” example shown) is the best option for the most pure form of sterilizing light, we’re talking about, shining it  on  the coil (fins) surface; not up in the duct somewhere; this is the most the most effective location…Period…used in Commercial & Institutional settings; Hospitals/Schools

2) THE Germicidal light, a less expensive option, makes a less intense grade of UV light produced by these light tubes but it is still effective for  treating the coil surface,

inside the Air Handler Unit or Furnace; usually the only way you can tell without a very pricey High -Tech radiometer, is usually by the price of one vs the other, (about half price; ex. $1800 vs $650-$800; I.E. ‘Blue Tube’)

3) A myth: You can kill microbials’ & Bacteria effectively  “on the fly by”… in other words, if somebody tells you it’ll work to clean the air stream, that a load of BS… this application may help with odor control but it won’t necessarily kill the active spores on the Fly, it needs a longer dwell time for the light shining on the  Microbial Growth; it needs to be installed shining on the coil fin surface to work; that’s the source area ripe for microbes & bacteria to start growing.
