I see this time & time again,… “It gets to the end of Summer and the A/C doesn’t cool the house well. Let’s check that drain-line. It’ll shut down the condenser unit outside but still let the Air Handler Unit run inside, giving you the idea that you have A/C problems. Mine even backed up this Summer
Clear the drain-line; pour in some vinegar in the drainline clean out port or suck the line out with a wet/dry vac.
(the little short cap on the left is the cleanout port and the black topped fitting with the wires is the safety float switch) Simple maintenance will help avoid these problems:
● Flooding /Dripping into the return area from a backed up drain.
● No T-Stat display; Shut- Off
Don’t use Bleach in your unit, (according to A/C manufacturer tech bulletin/ recommendations). Bleach causes corrosion and will eat up the fins in your indoor Evaporator coil, Vinegar WILL NOT.

This gunk can be the problem, you should see “clean”, “clear water”, no slime, not milky, no boogers.
Does your A/C unit run, then shut off, then start again? The line is partiallyclogged causing a backup, it drains slowly then It kicks back on as long as it’s got a bunch of gunk in the drain line it will do this all day. Think about this, your A/C has been running all Summer since April or May, if you haven’t treated or cleared the drain-line you’re going to have trouble; MAYBE YOU MAKE IT THRU WITHOUT A PROBLEM THIS SUMMER; next spring when we start up again you will have the same trouble when we “re-wet” all that dried gunk / trash in the line, left over from this year, I see it all the time.
