As things begin to cool down in our area, everyone looks forward to turning off or using their air conditioner less.

This is great…we all can enjoy the mild weather, and our power bill will go down. So what else happens? Well, we have this kinda bad and unintended consequence from using less A/C. As soon as the A/C stops running, so does any moisture removal or dehumidification! Get a mini hygrometer (see gadget photo below) and start checking your indoor humidity. (see below) This gadget will cost you less than $20, but it will help you understand what’s going on indoors with comfort and “Air Feel”. ( i.e., cool & crisp and not clammy)

The A/C unit ‘running' is the only way to dehumidify the indoor space unless you have

a dedicated dehumidifier.

If you have humidity above 60% ~ You've got trouble! You’ll eventually be headed down the mold pathway & the comfort will be lacking as well. .. The best way to keep the moisture levels down is to either run your A/C or consider getting a supplemental dehumidifier. 

Portable dehumidifiers are an option, but are not usually effective enough for more than one small area of the home or workplace; they are noisy, inefficient, and require a lot of attention unless you have a dedicated drain for all the water. So far so good, for the storm season & the football season! These are the things I seem to focus on during the Fall, that, & the weather finally cooling down; it seems to be taking its time this year, but ‘Praise the Lord’ that the tropics have been quiet. Later this month, the long grind of Hockey & Basketball will begin, at least for the pro level, hard to believe they start now & hoist those trophies in June. Dang, baseball will start back before we see who is in the final running for Lord Stanley’s Cup. 

Enough about sports, you can tell I spend way too much time watching “my teams.” The best part of October is always about Music, Camping & Friends, and by this I mean Suwannee Roots Revival in Live Oak, Florida; this year we were slightly early, 9th -12th.

But the weather is usually perfect, the Music is flowing, and the dirt in the mosh pit is best kicked up by a big ‘Circle Dance’ in bare feet IYKYK! In reference to the line-up, I haven’t seen OTEIL B perform in a dog's age, & he’s bringing some of his best friends & I guarantee they are all awesome musicians, I can’t wait. 

My message in this: Sometimes we need to turn off the News & Sports and go out in Nature to hang out with other people, set our opinions aside for a time and cleanse our souls, (I recommend in the Suwannee River, but it’s pretty chilly) Renew your Energy & Faith in people, aside from their ‘talking points’ and hold hands in the big Circle Dance with Donna the Buffalo playing on the main stage! I believe in Nature’s Cure.
